My whole professional career is about communication. As a journalist, spokesperson, consultant for crisis communications and trainer I have had numerous opportunities to study the various aspects of information exchange between people. These experiences led to the following conclusion: communication is everything; and everything is communication. However, it is not self-evident that a message is received at all or comes across the way the messenger intended.

Talking is easy.
          To be understood is an art.

According to the biblical account, Babel was a city that united humanity, all speaking a single language. When people started to build the “Tower of Babel”, the story goes, God confused their languages and scattered them throughout the world. Although modern technology has created more interconnection worldwide than ever, we still suffer from a Babylonian confusion of languages. I do believe in the power of communications – and that we can overcome “ Babel ”.
