Communication offers a large toolbox of instruments: who says something, how, when and in which context has an impact on how your message is received. Before embarking on a communications exercise, you have to define the strategic goals, work out the tactics and think about potential partners or alliances. I want to support you as a partner and consultant in developing a communications strategy, practicing absolute confidentiality but being a critical listener. My goal is to make sure your message is understood.
Crisis communications
When a crisis strikes – be it an accident, a criminal case, a natural disaster etc. – the role of the spokesperson is usually not overwhelmed by volunteers. However, a crisis can change the image and reputation of a company, an organization or a person within a couple of days – for good or for bad. A crisis always represents a major communications challenge. Careful preparation, regular training sessions and perfect execution of a crisis plan are necessary to turn a crisis into an opportunity. As I have been actively involved in the management of a number of crises (such as the mining accident in Austria in Lassing in 1998; the Tsunami catastrophe in 2004), I want to share my experience with you in preparing for or dealing with a crisis – behind the curtains and/or in the spotlight as spokesperson.
Cross-cultural communications
The frequently quoted “Clash of Cultures” also takes place in the area of communication – the result being countless misunderstandings and failed communication efforts. The understanding between Europe and the US has deteriorated in recent years, and the gap between the Western world and China still persists. Too many foreign investments lead to problems internally or in the public perception. Having lived in the US , China and Europe , I want to offer you my support in developing a tailor-made communications strategy that takes into account regional and cultural differences.
